Senior Army Leaders Assess Fort Buchanan Infrastructure Upgrades
FORT BUCHANAN, Puerto Rico — Maj. Gen. Karen S. Monday-Gresham, senior commander for Fort Buchanan, toured key infrastructure projects on the installation Oct. 29 alongside Command Sgt. Maj. Benny L. Hubbard of the 81st Readiness Division, Col. David L. Brewer, Fort Buchanan garrison commander, and Ulises Marrero, deputy to the garrison commander.
The leaders visited the Army Reserve Operations Center, the future site of the installation’s microgrid, and a new housing complex now under construction. During the tour, Monday-Gresham presented an excellence coin to Maria “Angie” Lopez of the Directorate of Public Works, who is retiring after 28 years of federal service.
With an annual budget of more than $500 million, Fort Buchanan supports roughly 15,000 personnel, including active-duty Soldiers, Army Reserve members, Puerto Rico National Guard troops, Marine Corps Reservists and Navy Reservists. As the Army’s home in the Caribbean, the installation delivers the facilities and services needed to train, mobilize and deploy forces worldwide.
